How it works
Air source heat pumps absorb heat from the outside air. This heat can then be used for space heating (ie radiators, underfloor heating) and domestic hot water for (showers, baths, washing dishes etc).
An air source heat pump extracts heat from the outside air in the same way that a fridge extracts heat from its inside. It can get heat from the air even when the temperature is as low as -20° C. They are most suitable existing properties off mains gas (ie oil, LPG or Electricity) and for new builds.
Air source heat pumps can work to an 300% efficiency. This means that for every one unit of power they consume they produce three unit of heat!
Rayotec install two kinds of air source heat pumps
(1) High Temperature Heat Pumps
High temperature heat pumps are designed to replace an existing fossil fuel boiler. They work at temperatures of up to 70C allowing them to working with existing radiators and hot water cylinders.
The heat pump typically replaces your boiler. However it is possible for it work side by side with your existing boiler if required. This is useful for large properties with high heat loss.
(2) Low Temperature Heat Pumps
Designed to work in well insulated houses with a heating system that works at low temperatures such as underfloor heating. Perfect for all new builds or major refurbishments to current building standards.

Produce all of your heating and hot water.
One heat pumps installed in parallel can provide all a properties heating and hot water. For large properties with high heatlosses then multiple heatpumps can be used or one heatpump with your existing boiler.
Reduce your heating bills by 40-50%
As a heat pump works at about 300% efficiency it can lead to substantial savings of about 40-50% when compared to oil, electricity or lpg.
New Government incentive
There is new government incentive (renewable heat incentive) that can pay thousands of pounds, tax free over the first 7 years to encourage uptake of heat pumps. Rayotec is fully registered to help its customers take advantage of this fantastic opportunity.
More reliable than conventional boilers
Heat pumps tend to last much longer than conventional boilers. They have a lifespan of 20 years or more and tend to need less maintenance. As they are also more reliable there is a lower chance that you will be left without heat when you most need it.
No loss in efficiency
A fossil fuel boiler loses about 2% of efficiency for each year of operation. So after only 10 years they could be working at efficiency 20% lower than when new. A heat pump will have very little loss in efficiency over its lifespan if looked after properly leading to large financial savings.
Why get rid of your oil boiler
In most properties a heat pump will allow you to remove your existing boiler. The advantages for oil users are huge:

- Eliminate growing problems of fuel theft
